Our Services.

Core Aeration.

Overview:

Core Aeration is our main service offering and is a type of lawn aeration whereby a machine with hollow tines removes "cores" of soil and thatch from your lawn. Core aeration reduces soil compaction, creating channels which oxygen, water, and nutrients can penetrate the soil. We have a fleet of the best aeration equipment including aerators from Stinger, Exmark, and Lesco.

Benefits:

  • Greener, more resilient grass

  • Enhanced water absorption

  • Improved fertilizer absorption and grass seed germination

  • Reduced water runoff and puddling

  • Stronger grass roots

  • Enhanced heat and drought stress tolerance

  • Reduced soil compaction

Overseeding.

Overview:

Overseeding is the planting of grass seed directly into existing grass, without tearing up the turf, or the soil. It's an easy way to fill in bare spots, improve the density of turf, establish improved grass varieties and enhance your lawn's color. This service is recommended directly after Core Aeration. We select the type of seed we will use based on your current turf environment.

Benefits:

  • Thicker, greener grass

  • Reduces the risk of insect or disease damage

  • Reduced common grass weeds such as crabgrass

  • Improves shady conditions and heavy traffic resiliency

  • Improved lawn without the use of harmful chemicals

  • Reduced water runoff and puddling

  • Provides a quick fix to winter, traffic or any other turf damage

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Flag Underground Fixtures.

Flag any underground items that we should be aware of such as Sprinkler Heads, Invisible Dog Fences, Cable/Internet wires, ect.

    Measure Backyard Access.

Measure the backyard entrance gate to ensure it is at least 48 inches wide to accommodate our machines.

    Clear Debris.

If possible, clear any debris such as lawn fixtures where you would like us to aerate and/or overseed.

    Mark Property Lines.

If not obvious, mark property lines to avoid us from hitting neighboring property underground utilities.

    Cut Lawn.

Cutting the lawn to 2 inches or less will allow for seed to have more contact with the soil and increase germination rates.

  • Do Not Discard Cores

The cores pulled from your yard contain valuable nutrients often found in expensive fertilizer. This quality soil should not be discarded. Some customers have found success with raking cores into low spots of the yard to help with adjusting yard grade.

    Lawn Treatments

Right after aeration is a perfect time to overseed, and/or fertilize your lawn or do simple lawn repairs. Seeds and nutrients have direct contact with soil through the openings.

Avoid Cutting Grass/ Heavy Foot Traffic for 3-4 Weeks

The newly laid grass seed needs time to catch onto the soil and germinate. This process takes roughly 3-4 weeks in order for the grass seed to achieve a strong enough base to mow.

    Water, Water, Water

It is absolutely critical to water new grass seed. Ideally you would keep the grass seed moist for 2-3 weeks. This is usually done by watering the seed for 15 minutes twice a day for the first week and 30 minutes once a day for the second and third week.

    Avoid Certain Fertilizer Products

Most weed control products prevent both weeds AND grass seed from taking root. Please be sure to check online or contact us if your fertilizer is compatible with the seed we lay down!

  • Golf courses aerate their turf twice a year. For most residential home owners, we recommend at least once a year to avoid excessive soil compaction.

  • Overseeding can be done once a year to maintain problem areas, or can be done once to kick-start a lawn.

  • Core Aeration is done in the spring (March, April, May) and in the fall (September, October). As lawn connoisseurs, we aerate our lawns twice a year but make sure to stay within the month ranges above.

  • This depends on your goals. If, in the spring, you would like a lush lawn for the upcoming summer, it would be best to overseed in the spring for immediate results. If you would like ideal soil conditions to maximize grass seed success and germination rates, the fall is best.

  • This is entirely dependent on the current species and environment of the lawn. We have 5 different blends, each used in different scenarios. Everything we use contains 0.00% weed seeds / other crop.

  • No! As long as the pre-service checklist has been satisfied, we will complete our service and send an electronic invoice via text message or email directly after!

  • We accept cash, check, or payment via electronic invoice with credit card

  • We use industry leading equipment that can pull between 3 - 4 inch cores depending on soil compaction!

  • We generally recommend starter fertilizer in addition to grass seed to increase germination speed and success. However, certain fertilizers such as weed & feed contain ingredients that will completely prevent grass seed germination. If you have laid down a weed prevention fertilizer (aside from tenacity) in the last 2 months, we recommend waiting until next season to lay seed.

  • We no longer provide dethatching services as a small amount of thatch is good for your lawn. Dethatching can possibly do more harm than good by damaging roots and grass blades.

Aeration both solves the issue of thatch build up and addresses the problems associated with compacted soil!
